The gesture he had towards Mike is likely the reason Tyson has so much respect for the Mexican legend. But also, ‘Iron Mike’ has always been a boxing historian and knows exactly who Chavez is. For many years, he was considered the best boxer in the world and he competes for the GOAT recognition.

Mike Tyson acknowledges how important Julio Cesar Chavez has been for the sport of boxing and he has deep admiration towards him. But that personal gesture was deeply moving for Mike, who really needed help at that moment. Here’s what Chavez said: “We are really good friends.

I believe Tyson is grateful towards me. When he was in jail, I bought two cars from him so he could get back on his feet. I bought a Rolls Royce and a Ferrari from him. He had some problems and he sold me those two cars for $250,00 but they were worth around $600,00. I bought both from him. That’s the reason I think he values our friendship so much.”
