The Mexican champion is confident of his quality, but has revealed that other boxers have equated him as the undisputed best pound-for-pound fighter in the world

While Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is preparing for his much-anticipated fight against Jermell Charlo, which is expected to be a huge celebration, he has also taken time to talk about his career.

The great Mexican boxing champion, considered the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, will appear in front of thousands to try to stay at the top, although this is something he no longer sees as exclusive.

The Aztec fighter’s appointment will be next Saturday, September 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.

This after, in an interview with Brian Custer, on The Last Stand Podcast, Alvarez has assured that he no longer considers himself to be the only and best boxer in the world.

“You know, I think we all deserve being number one pound-for-pound. I think it’s (dis)respect to put somebody at the top because, you know, you have Inoue, you have Crawford, you have Usyk, you have a lot of great fighters out there. And I think we all deserve being the number one,” he said.

This has caused a lot of reaction, because until a few weeks ago he claimed that only Tyson Fury could come close to him, but he felt that he had proven that he was the best fighter in the world. And now all that has changed.

Canelo holds a 59-2-2 record as a professional boxer and is the current holder of the World Boxing Council (WBC), World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Organization (WBO) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) super middleweight world championships.

Canelo ready to beat Charlo

Jermell Charlo is just days away and according to Canelo, he already knows what Charlo’s ‘biggest’ weapons are that the American fighter will try to use against him.

Much has been said about the physical changes Charlo has had to endure specifically the speculation about Jermell’s weight change, however, the Mexican claims he is ready to fight him.

During an interview for the promotion of the fight, Canelo breaks down what Charlo could use against him, however, he mentioned that he is used to fighting in many styles, as he has been fighting since he was 15 years old.

“His biggest weapon is everything, he can punch, he can take a punch, he can move too and he’s tall; I think he has it all, but I’m used to fighting in all styles and I’m ready!” he said.

Canelo’s revelation about the end of his career

Both fighters began promoting the fight with a series of media events where they spoke to the press. During one of them, Canelo revealed something that although no one thought about it, it did baffle the boxing world.

When will Canelo retire, and does retirement loom over Canelo? He answered directly as his body has taken a lot of knocks during his boxing career.

“I think I have at least four more years left, maybe five. I’ve been a professional boxer since I was 15 years old. That’s almost 18 years of fighting professionally. I always said I would retire when I was 36. Or 37, around that age. That should be more than enough, that’s so many years of boxing. By then, I’ll have achieved a lot of things and then I’ll have to enjoy life with the family and everything,” he said.
