John Fury, father of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, is planning to confront Mike Tyson next week in Saudia Arabia.
On October 28 in Riyadh, Fury will take part in a non-title crossover boxing match with former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.
Ngannou, who makes his professional debut as a boxer, has hired Hall of Famer Mike Tyson to train him. Tyson is a former undisputed heavyweight champion. He believes Ngannou has a puncher’s chance to pull off an upset.
John Fury feels betrayed, because he named his son Tyson after the heavyweight great.
In recent interviews, the elder Fury has been very vocal about his desire to get Tyson in the ring.
“[I’d like to fight] Mike Tyson. Mike Tyson, I’m going to the top of the tree. And he’s a traitor, and I’m going to tell him so in Saudi next week. Next week, he’ll be told,” John Fury told Fight Hub TV.
Ngannou is a massive underdog in the fight.
Most observers expect him to get knocked out in a one-sided contest.
The MMA veteran recently held an open workout to show off his boxing skills.
After watching the workout footage, John Fury is predicting a quick wipeout.
“I hope he’s kidding along and he’s playing possum here. I hope that’s a joke and intended to be a laugh. Because if it’s not, he ain’t got a prayer. He ain’t got a cat in hell’s chance. He won’t get out of the first round. It’s probably going to be Tyson’s quickest knockout,” John Fury said.
“But you know what? It’s got to be kidology, that. It’s got to be fun and games. Because if that’s what he’s got, well, God help him, he’ll get smashed to bits. That’s all I’m saying, mate. That’s embarrassing. If that’s what he can do on a public workout, don’t bother doing a public workout. It’s a disgrace.”
