Rumours of the potential crossover fight have swirled in the past week since Fury’s UK co-promoter Frank Warren revealed to talkSPORT that the Gypsy King’s upcoming bout will not be an undisputed showdown against Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia.
Instead he teased a ‘game-changer’ bout, but refused to explain any specifics.
Last weekend, Warren’s promotional rival Hearn, who represents Anthony Joshua, said he’d heard rumours that Fury vs Ngannou was set to happen as an exhibiti on.
Now, according to renowned MMA reporter Ariel Helwani, an official announcement is expected for Fury vs Ngannou ‘very soon’.
Helwani simply tweeted on Friday night: “Tyson Fury x Francis Ngannou is expected to be announced very soon, per sources.”
He did not add any confirmation as to whether the fight will be an official boxing match or an exhibition.
However, when asked about Fury vs Ngannou rumours last weekend, Hearn told Boxing Social: “Yes, I believe so, this is what I’ve heard.
“It will be an exhibition apparently, no knockdowns or anything.
“I don’t know, I’m only telling you what I’ve heard.
“Who knows what’s what, but I think that is apparently what is gonna be the next fight.
“Disappointing, but it is what it is.”
