This Saturday, April 22, one of the biggest fights of the year will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The battle between Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis, agreed to at 136 pounds, promises intense emotions and a fantastic entertainment even though no titles are at stake.
Canelo Alvarez is one of the best boxers in the world right now, but he won’t be fighting. The Mexican, though, is constantly in the spotlight due to what is said about him. Due to his friendship with Ryan Garcia, his name is brought up in this situation before the fight.
Both Canelo Alvarez and Ryan don’t have a lot of backing in this bout. Even though they had joined forces with one another to form the “Canelo Team,” their friendship and partnership dissolved when things didn’t work out as planned.
“I think Davis should win this fight. He has better skills and knows how to move very well in the ring,” said Canelo, who doesn’t trust the Mexican-American very much.
Ryan became close to Canelo, but first split with trainer Eddy Reynoso and then with Alvarez over a betrayal he has not forgotten.
Ryan’s decision was not taken too well by Canelo, who said he was throwing away his career and not taking advantage of his talent.
“In my eyes, he’s wasting a lot of time and wasting his talent. I look at him and I don’t see him 100 percent dedicated and, for us, that’s a bad sign. We always remind him as a team to come to the gym,” he said.
That didn’t sit well with Ryan, who took offense to it by not going directly to talk to him. He didn’t like finding out that way, so he felt betrayed. “I don’t know why he talked to the press before he talked to me.
He turned his back on me. I don’t think he appreciated me as much as he seemed to.” Now it’s time for Ryan Garcia to confirm all his talent and show it to Canelo.
