Scott Adkins Reveals How Mike Tyson Influenced Him

Scott Adkins, a martial artist, and actor, played the German crime boss known as “Killa Harkan” in the thrilling world of John Wick: Chapter 4. His combat style distinguishes him as a character. Adkins sought inspiration from none other than “Iron” Mike Tyson for this, paying respect and modeling his character after his fighting style.

He wanted to demonstrate that Killa Harkan had previously been a deadly assassin and that he had evolved a special fighting technique that was both aggressive and effective. Adkins revealed that he had spent a lot of time studying Mike Tyson’s fighting technique since he had always admired it.

Adkins also revealed that playing Killa Harkan required him to put on a 100-pound fat suit, which was a first for him. The character’s terrifying presence was increased by the costume, which gave him a larger-than-life appearance.

One of the hardest scenes to shoot in the film was the combat scene between Killa Harkan and John Wick. A nightclub in Berlin served as the setting, and there were hundreds of extras and moving water.

But Adkins’ approach to the action sequences, where he adopted ‘Iron‘ Mike Tyson’s style as a model, was impacted by the heavy prosthetics and the weight of the fat suit.

“It’s not just me in a fat suit. We wanted to sell that this guy is heavy and it is hard for him to move around. Yet in his past life, he used to be this deadly assassin himself and he knows how to throw down. So we came up with a kind of Mike Tyson style to the way he fights, but he can still bring it out when it counts. We didn’t want to do a load of triple kicks and everything,” he said.
