Inevitable Catastrophe: Riddick Bowe’s Grim Forecast for a Tyson Fury vs. Mike Tyson Encounter

Fantasy fights stoke the flames of boxing fans like little else, particularly when the discussion is based around two top heavyweights.

And of those cross generational heavyweight match ups, Tyson Fury vs Mike Tyson is banded about perhaps more than any other fight.

A bout between the division’s current kingpin, Fury, and its youngest ever champion, Tyson, would be one of unique intrigue due to optics alone, with ‘The Gypsy King’ standing almost a foot taller than ‘Iron Mike.’

However, former undisputed heavyweight champion Riddick Bowe explained to The Mayweather Channel why his former rival would be able to overcome that particular disadvantage and “destroy” Fury.

“Mike Tyson.

I think because of Mike’s speed and his punching power, as long as someone is standing in front of him, Mike will destroy them.

And Fury doesn’t move! So Mike would kill him.”

As is this case with all fantasy fights, unfortunately the boxing world will never know whether ‘Big Daddy’s assessment is accurate – although Fury would likely disagree with Bowe’s view that he doesn’t move!

It remains unclear at the moment what exactly Fury’s next move is, and he not been in the ring since his December trouncing of Derek Chisora in their baffling trilogy bout at the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium.

The unanimous hope is that he will agree terms for an undisputed clash with Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia later in the year, with Skill Challenge Entertainment keen to stage the contest on the same show as Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder.

However, as has been proven time and time again, attempting to predict the WBC champion is usually a dumb trick.
