Mike Tyson Salutes The Boxing Legend Who Surpasses All Others, Who Is He?

Mike Tyson has revealed which current fighter most reminds him stylistically of himself.

Three weight world champion Gervonta Davis has often been compared to ‘Iron Mike,’ mainly due to his short stature and extremely high knockout percentage.

However, in a recent interview with Ring Magazine, Tyson actually named former Davis opponent, Isaac Cruz, as the modern boxer who fights most similarly to himself.

“I don’t know if anyone is close to me today. If I had to say someone is closest to me, I would say Isaac Cruz. He’s short and stubby for his weight class, like I was, and he comes at you. People might think I would say Tank, but Tank reminds me a whole lot of Aaron ‘The Hawk’ Pryor. I mean that as a big compliment”

“You would think Tank is a brawler, but he really is a boxer-puncher. He moves well. He moves his head well. He can beat you all kinds of ways. He can knock you out. Or he can box you.”

“Cruz reminds me the most of who I was. He comes at you with bad intentions. And he keeps coming at you. He gave Tank his toughest fight.”

Cruz gave Baltimore star Davis arguably the toughest fight of his career to date back in 2021, when he was just edged out on the judges’ scorecards.

‘Pitbull’ bounced back from that defeat with back to back stoppage victories over Yuriorkis Gamboa and Eduardo Ramirez last year, and will hope to make it three on the bounce against Giovanni Carbrera on the undercard of Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford.
