Evander Holyfield Makes Bold Claim: Davis “More Dangerous” Than The Man Who Cost Him Part Of His Ear More Than Two Decades Ago

Holyfield famously fought Tyson on two occasions during the 1990s, and he even more famously lost part of his ear during one of them.

Back then, Tyson had passed his prime, and Holyfield won both bouts, but he will still be well aware of just how dangerous the famed boxer was.

That means his most recent claim about a ‘more dangerous’ boxer than Tyson has to be taken seriously. Speaking to FightHype, Holyfield spoke about Baltimore star Gervonta Davis, also known as “Tank”.

Davis fights at a much lower weight class than Tyson did, but he has 27 knockouts in 29 fights so far, winning every one of his bouts.

And that has led Holyfield to dub Davis “more dangerous” than the man who cost him part of his ear more than two decades ago.

“He [Davis] is a very good fighter. He’s a very skilled fighter, he kind of reminds me of Pernell Whittaker,” Holyfield said.

“Pernell Whittaker was a skilful boxer. ‘Tank’ is a skilful boxer, and a hard puncher – he’s got both of ’em! That would make him even more dangerous than Tyson.

Davies’ boxing career has been on hold over recent years due to a prison sentence, but recently released, many fans are hoping “Tank” returns to the ring and resumed his boxing career.

Tyson recently spoke about the upcoming fight between Errol Spence and Terence Crawford.

“It’s a hell of a fight. Listen, you’ve got a master in there with a mean hell of a motherf***er, right, but the master is coming up in weight, he’s the small guy but he’s been successful with bigger guys,” he said to Fight Hype.
