Mike Tyson Names ‘Underrated’ Fighter Who ‘Nobody Has A Chance Against’

Heavyweight boxing legend, Mike Tyson, has identified the fighter that he believes nobody has a chance against and is comfortably the best boxer in his respective weight class, despite not holding a world title.

That man is David Benavidez, who put in a dominant performance against Caleb Plant last month in a career-best win.

‘The Mexican Monster’ scored a unanimous decision victory over the former IBF super-middleweight champion, earning him the position as the WBC mandatory challenger and a chance of a fight against fellow Mexican and current undisputed champion, Canelo Alvarez.

In an interview with ES NEWS, ‘Iron’ Mike claimed that nobody in the 168lb division has a chance against Benavidez and admitted that if he was a current super middleweight, even he would be afraid to fight him.

“He is so underrated, but so over-polarising.

Listen, I would be afraid to fight him too, if I was in that division. Nobody even has a chance against him it appears to me, I’m talking from facts.”

Despite now holding the position as the WBC mandatory, it appears that Canelo has no intentions of defending his title against Benavidez next, with a rematch against Dmitry Bivol in the light-heavyweight division taking priority.

A win against his Russian rival could mean a more permanent move up to the 175lb scene, freeing up the full WBC title for Benavidez.

Meanwhile another defeat to Bivol would likely see Canelo accept the challenge of taking on his undefeated countrymen at super-middleweight.

For either of those fights to come to fruition, Canelo must first get past John Ryder, the WBO mandatory challenger, who he fights on May 6th in his native Mexico.
