Tyson Fury and Mike Tyson are two names that will forever by synonymous with the boxing world, and sport in general.
Their names carry significant weight and command a certain level of respect in all walks of life.
As is always the way with sport, though, there is a desperation for ranking as many fans have their own opinion as to whether Mike Tyson at his best was a greater fighter than Tyson Fury at his best.
It is not just fans who think about these th ings. Two-time opponent of Mike Tyson and former undisputed heavyweight world champion, Evander Holyfield, has weighed in on the debate too.
Evander Holyfield discusses Tyson Fury vs Mike Tyson
Whilst on The Mayweather Channel, Holyfield had absolutely no hesitation in choosing Iron Mike as his pick for the best ever in their prime.
“Tyson, Mike Tyson,” he said, not wishing to deliberate at all.
He clearly was very impressed by the times where he fought Tyson, which came in the mid 1990s.
One of them was the world famous ‘bite fight’, in which Tyson seemingly bit or ripped off a chunk of Holyfield’s ear.
Evander Holyfield respects Tyson Fury
He may well think that a prime Tyson is better than a prime Fury, but Holyfield recently showed that he has immense respect for the Gypsy King.
Speaking to All Out Fighting about who the best heavyweight fighter in the world is right now, that’s who he picked.
Right now, the best is Tyson Fury,” he said.
“We’re talking about a heavyweight champion and he was champion first, so until somebody comes and knocks him out then you can’t say you took that title from him.”
