Prior to WrestleMania 14, Mike Tyson and Stone Cold Steve Austin had a brief meeting at Monday Night Raw. Vince McMahon had Tyson come over to WWE Raw but The Texas Rattlesnake got in his face.
In the segment, Stone Cold called out Tyson and claimed he could defeat the boxer every day of the week and twice on Sunday. He pushed every button until Tyson snapped and pushed The Texas Rattlesnake.
During an interview, Stone Cold revealed that everything they did during the segment was rather spontaneous. Both of them knew what needed to be done and said, but they weren’t following a set script.
“I didn’t know what Mike was going to say. I kind of had the broad points about it. But, it was just a deal where Mike went out and said what he said and I got in his face and flipped him off. He had to push the sh*t out of me because if he just barely pushed me, he’d look like a punk. So, he pushed the sh*t out of me.”
Besides, The Texas Rattlesnake revealed he wanted to get back at Tyson for pushing him rather hard. However, Jerry Briscoe and Pat Patterson had a tight grip on him, and he couldn’t get out of it.
Mike Tyson sided with Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania 14
During the build-up to WWE WrestleMania 14 match between Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold, Tyson sided with The Heartbreak Kid. He acted as the special enforcer for the match and had to take over as the referee when the original referee got knocked out.
Stone Cold Steve Austin hit Shawn Michaels with the stunner. But, at that point, there was no referee in the ring.
So, once he hit the stunner and pinned him, Tyson immediately entered the ring and counted to three. The bell went off and Tyson raised The Texas Rattlesnake’s hand in the air.
To this day, the match remains memorable between two of WWE’s greatest competitors, along with one of the most renowned men in the combat sports industry.
